Majorca is the largest and most popular of the Balearics islands. It is an island of startling contrasts. Its landscape varies from the ruggedly beautiful Tramuntana mountains running from Pollensa in the north east to the aptly named Isla Dragonerra at the south west tip, to the flat, fertile plains in the east.
The mountains are covered with stone terracing built by the Moors who planted olive, almond and carab trees. In late January, early February, the blossoms bloom in abundance. A beautiful sight. |
Many people are surprised when they visit Mallorca for the first time. Tourist areas around the island are actually quite discrete. Most of the island is unspoiled.
Sailing is, of course, a major sport, together with golf and tennis. An island very proud of RCD Mallorca and, of course, Rafael Nadal!
