The old town of Palma, the Casco Antiguo, is the true heart of the City. For centuries it was home to the nobility and the wealthy of Mallorca who built gracious palaces and town houses using the finest materials. Palma is a beautiful, gracious, vibrant city. It is continually being lovingly restored by local craftsmen and apprentices learning their trade at the highest level.
The city is alive with culture, both local and international. There are numerous cinemas, many of which show international films in their original languages. They sometimes show new releases before they hit London. The beautifully restored Teatre Principal and the more modern Auditorium, entertain the local audiences with Mallorcan and Spanish classic and modern plays but also with touring bands, orchestras and international musical productions. The city is teaming with music bars and jazz clubs. And then, of course, there is the wonderfully continental cafe society, day and night, to watch the world go by. |
